On Saturday, the 1st XI travelled to Cookham Dean and elected to bowl first. A clinical performance in the field saw the home side make 206-9 with 2 wickets each for Richard Parker and Alex Walker plus 3 for Roshan Dias. In reply Alex Martin made 36 and Roshan Dias made 29, but at 100-4 the lower middle order had a task on their hands to steer us to the win. The task was harder due to the fading light but Mattie Brown (21), Ansur Mahmood (19) and Jawad Shoukat (30) took the score to 198 but we ran out of batters in the last over to lose by a narrow margin.
The 2’s hosted Gerrards Cross 3s, who strengthened their side and bowled us out for 110 and completed the chase in short time for the loss of a solitary wicket.
In the final match of the season, the 3rd XI capped off their campaign with a commanding victory over Chesham 5s. After losing the toss, C&L were invited to bat first, setting the tone for a dominant performance. Tushar opened the innings with an aggressive display, sending the ball to all parts of the ground with some lusty hits that quickly put the opposition on the back foot. The star of the innings, however, was Dharmendra, who played a scintillating knock, notching up his maiden half-century for the club. His brilliant display of pulling and cutting through the offside was clinical, providing the backbone of the innings. Harsh complemented Dharmendra’s aggression with a composed innings, adding stability to the middle order and helping C&L post a very competitive total of 217. With a solid score on the board, C&L’s bowlers took charge. Aayush and Naveen bowled a tight and menacing opening spell, building pressure and setting the tone for the rest of the innings. Dharmendra continued his fine batting form by picking up crucial wickets and taking a spectacular catch! Chesham’s batsmen struggled to break free from their grip, and Harsh, continuing his fine all-round form, picked up wickets at regular intervals. His probing deliveries dismantled Chesham’s batting line-up, and they eventually fell well short of the target. The victory was a fitting end to C&L’s season, which saw flashes of brilliance but also missed opportunities. With the talent in their ranks and some narrow defeats earlier in the season, they will look back on this campaign with a sense of what could have been. However, they finished on a high, showcasing their potential and leaving the team optimistic for the future. This dominant display in the final game was a perfect way to close the season, with key performances from both bat and ball highlighting the team’s all-around strength.
A largely disappointing season for all 3 Saturday league teams. The 1st XI finished 7th, the 2nd XI were 9th (but avoid relegation due to some re-structuring of the league) and the 3rd XI finished in 7th place.
On Sunday, the women’s team had their final match of the season at home against Slough. It dawned following a night of thunder and lightning, building on the already tense game it was due to be with Slough fighting for promotion. After a slight rain delay, the women went out to bowl, and with spectacular opening bowling from Emma Braddock and Shayna Patel, pressure was on Slough. Despite this Twisha Pande took the opening wicket with a simple catch for Keira Treadwell bringing Slough to 58-1. Slough continued to gain momentum, but following team talks, Chenies managed to get the breakthrough with Slough on 157. From here, the wickets kept falling. Emma Braddock had figures of 1-37, Shayna 2-29 and Emily Brown 3-29. A top fielding performance accrued run outs from Aarushe Singh and a direct hit for Gill Braddock, some fabulous fielding in the deep by Ruby Daurka, and a catch from Twisha Pande that could do nothing but stick. With that Chenies were set the target of 200. Chenies had a slight wobble to begin with, but the team stayed positive and supportive, with highlights of their batting innings being the 51 scored by Aarushe Singh, securing her title as top runs scorer for the season and Emily Brown scoring 18. Chenies fell short of the total of 200, but won many a sportswomanship award on the day, showing their class and support for the spirit of cricket. Congratulations to Slough for their promotion.
The Sunday XI went to Hawridge & Cholesbury. The hosts decided to bat first but were bowled out for 145. All 11 Chenies players had a bowl with the wickets shared around. Youngster Luke Hargreaves was the pick of the bowlers with 2-9 off 4 overs. Also notable was Kiran Vadlamani’s 4 catches behind the stumps, and he took one in the outfield aswell. The chase was drawn out with only 2 batters (Kiran Vadlamani and Reyan Patel) passing 20, but with just one over to spare Chenies got over the line with 3 wickets to spare.
Next week there is a friendly at the CCG against Lords Travellers on Saturday and then on Sunday the ground is handed over to the colts for Colts Day.

We anticipate the games will conclude around 1630hrs.
With regard to refreshments, in addition to the usual array of tea/coffee and cakes, the bar will be open and there will also be a BBQ as well as a selection of vegetarian options.
Finally, to ensure the day runs smoothly both from a playing and catering position, we need to know in advance the approximate numbers who will be attending also indicating if you want to take part in the matches and can you to please get back to John Campbell or your team managers no later than 7th September with numbers, also indicating if you want to take part in the matches.

For a few years our bar has been in decline. In order to drive greater use of the bar and to revive the social scene at the club we have partnered with a local company called Beer Nuts (previously proprietors of the craft beer establishment in Little Chalfont). They will be supplying beer to the club and sorting out our beer delivery system to ensure that we can avail ourselves of some quality beer. There will also be events and longer opening hours, especially on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
An intra club Fantasy Cricket game has been set up by Alex Walker. These are great fun – you just pick a team of 6 from the club’s players and see how their points rack up for your team based upon performances. Entry is just £5. Go to http://chenies-latimer.fantasyclubcricket.co.uk/. The prices of players are based SOLELY off of last year’s performance in league games , irrespective of which team you are in. This means there are some bargains. Player prices will change each week based on form and anyone not in the database yet will be added automatically once they play a league game.
