Groundsman, Coach, Player - a true all-rounder!

A man of many skills, and master of them all!! Cricket is a sport and a way of life and our very own Roshan Dias is a perfect representation of that. He bats and bowls for the 1st XI, and has been known to keep wicket aswell. He’s involved with the coaching of the U13 Superkings and the U13 Girls. He is a Stage 2 qualified umpire. In 2023 he is taking on the captaincy of the Sunday XI, and is our new groundsman at Chenies. That is the definition of a true all rounder!

In addition to all that, he also runs a private cricket coaching company, specialising in coaching techniques and practice drills to enhance player and team performances. Coaching sessions are available for players of all ages and skill levels looking to improve their technique as well as the physical and mental aspects of their game. One to one coaching provides for intensive individual support for noticeable improvements to your game.

Roshan is safeguarding certified and currently holds an ECB level 2 coaching qualification and is working towards gaining level 3.
If you are interested in some private coaching then get in touch with Roshan on 07427 926943 or visit https://www.personalcricketcoach.co.uk

Roshan was born in Kandy, Sri Lanka and played school and club cricket throughout his childhood. He originally came to England as an overseas player for Newport on the Isle of Wight in 2004 and 2005. He loved England so much that he stayed and ended up in Harrow playing for Lankians in 2008, before moving to West Herts in 2021 and then joining Chenies in 2023. Along the way he met his wife Maria and they have 2 children, Gaia (13 yrs) and Gamunu (8 yrs) who are both now playing for Chenies.

Upon coming to England Roshan qualified as a bus driver and drove London buses for a living for 10 years, but decided he’d rather earn his crust via his passion for cricket and therefore pursued his coaching and ground maintenance qualifications.
